Nursing

  • The Sumter County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs is recruiting qualified Host Families to assume care for individuals with developmental disabilities within their homes. This situation resembles closely that of foster care homes, usually associated with children and “host homes” which is a term widely used in other regions of the country. The Host Family would be required to have their personal home licensed per regulations of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs and the South Carolina Fire Marshall’s Office.

The licensed Host Family would be required to provide the necessary supervision to ensure the consumer(s) in their care were safe, protected, and always accounted for. The Community Training Home-I also requires a habilitation plan that incorporates personalized care, supervision, and individualized training for each consumer served. The maximum number of consumers that can be served in any home is two. The consumer(s) would become a part of the family structure.
