The Sumter County Developmental Disabilities Foundation, Inc. (SCDDF) was established in January 1996, to raise funds for the benefit of developmentally disabled children and adults of Sumter County. The governing body of the Foundation consists of no more than 20 volunteer members, to include members from the Board of Directors of the Sumter County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, as well as persons chosen at large from the residents of Sumter County.

The SCDDF operates a non-profit thrift store at 430 Broad Street, selling gently used clothing, books, toys, furniture, household items, etc. Donations may be dropped off at the store between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, or call 803-778-0973, to schedule a pick-up.

In the spring of each year, the SCDDF hosts their annual fundraising event, Sumter Disabilities Benefit Gala, held at The O’Donnell House. This is an evening of great food, complimentary wine and beer, as well as a silent auction.
